Choose Your Rural Japan Experience
Whether you are looking for a peaceful countryside retreat, a cultural getaway, or a deeper connection with nature, Tokuheian offers a unique stay in the heart of rural Kyoto.
Spend your time in a 200-year-old thatched-roof farmhouse, enjoy seasonal local cuisine, and experience the traditions and lifestyle of a local hunter family.
Each stay can be customized to match your interests and travel style.
Private Farmhouse Stay
Stay in a Traditional Japanese Farmhouse
At Tokuheian, our goal is simple: to share the experience of authentic rural Japanese living with guests from around the world.
This 200-year-old traditional farmhouse is yours to enjoy during your stay. Surrounded by mountains and nature, it offers a rare opportunity to experience a slower, more peaceful way of life in the Kyoto countryside.
The first floor features several traditional tatami rooms, including a spacious living area, a room with a family Buddhist altar, and an irori room with a traditional sunken hearth. For guests who prefer Western-style bedding, a bedroom with two beds is also available.
Upstairs, a large attic space reveals the craftsmanship and history of the house, allowing you to appreciate the architectural heritage that has been preserved for generations.
Guests are welcome to use the fully equipped kitchen and dining areas. Additional bathroom facilities are available beside our café, located just in front of the house. As Yukako previously worked as a sous-chef at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Kyoto, every kitchen space has been thoughtfully designed for cooking, gathering, and sharing meals.
Whether you are traveling with family, friends, or colleagues, Tokuheian provides a comfortable and memorable setting to connect with nature and experience rural Japan.
With Wi-Fi available throughout the property, it is also an ideal place for remote work, creative retreats, or simply escaping the noise of city life.
Here, the sounds of daily life are replaced by rustling leaves, flowing rivers, and the songs of birds and insects. Relax, unwind, and enjoy the timeless atmosphere of the Japanese countryside.
